Comment
The examination showed changes in lungs and liver
indicating to an acute cardiac death. There was a local, scarred
degenerated area in the heart muscle which possibly affected the
conduction of electric impulses in the tissue and thereby causing the
cardiac arrest. The cause of the degeneration is probably ischemic, for
example an infarct or a brain-heart syndrome, being a consequence of,
for example, an earlier unconsciousness. The examinations showed no
blood vessel changes indicating to an infarct. The examination showed
hemorrhage in the pancreas and thymus which probably are connected with
resuscitation efforts. As a secondary finding was noted lymphocytic
thyroiditis in thyroid glands, the disease found in the breed. That
disease rarely has clinical significance at an individual level but it
has a hereditary predisposition.
